Bringing the impact of the Saturday Club at Manchester Metropolitan University to life, through storytelling and animation—to celebrate a space where young people across Greater Manchester discover their passions and reimagine the voices and visions of tomorrow.

Purpose:

The video was created to showcase the activities, energy, and outcomes of this year’s Saturday Clubs, while also serving as a promotional piece to inspire future participants. Aimed at 13–16-year-olds from schools across Greater Manchester, the film captures the creativity and enthusiasm of the program, encouraging more young people to explore their interests and discover new opportunities through the Saturday Club experience.

Visual Direction:

Striking the right tone between playful and mature was key — the visuals needed to engage a younger audience without feeling overly juvenile. The design balances simplicity and clarity, using fewer elements and subtle motion to keep the focus on the content and emotion. Distinct, character-based illustrations were created for each club, giving every section its own personality and maintaining visual interest throughout transitions.

Video:

The animation maintains a dynamic rhythm with minimal static frames to hold the viewer’s attention, especially given the short-form viewing habits of today’s teenage audience. Movement and pacing were carefully balanced to enhance engagement without compromising the legibility of the spoken word and on-screen text, ensuring the message remained clear, impactful, and easy to follow.
