This project began with a curious piece of text that opened up a larger inquiry into the theory of intercultural transfer—how ideas, visuals, and traditions move across cultures and reshape meaning. What started as a theoretical exploration quickly evolved into a hands-on design journey rooted in visual research, language, and everyday culture. Inspired by the street food ecosystem in India and the typography surrounding it, I began documenting hand-painted signages, mixed-script compositions, and informal lettering styles found in local food stalls.

These observations became the foundation for developing a multilingual display typeface that bridges both Devanagari and Latin scripts. Along the way, key turning points—including feedback from tutors, peer collaboration, and testing the type in real-life scenarios—helped shape the font’s personality and purpose. The project grew from academic theory into a living, expressive type system that not only communicates across scripts but also reflects the cultural intersections that define its visual language.
